Technology Savvy
My Dad works at a high school as an assistant principal and there are three other assistance principals as well and all of them are in charge of a different grade level. All the principals received an Ipad to store information and allow them to do their day to day work on the go. My dad after using an Ipad for so long bought one of his own, for personal use at home. Eventually my step mom got one as well after using my Dads for so long. The Ipads engulf most of their free time with games and web surfing on the go. The interesting thing about this story to me is that schools are becoming more technology savvy and technology based. The principals received Ipads to allow them to use certain programs that could make their job easier when they work. The school also has the latest Mac computers and as well as multiple computer labs which the curriculum requires a general computer class where you learn to type and other useful world skills. The world around is changing and things that were needed in the past are getting outdated and replaced by new innovative things.  Also this story shows that many people no matter age can learn this technology. My grandmother received a kindle from my dad as a mothers day gift and she learned how to use it relatively fast despite the advancement in technology compared to technology in her time.
Media Convergence
http://itwasthebestnightever.com/

I am a big fan of How I Met Your Mother and have seen every episode to date. One thing that is interesting about the show is the fact that the show uses media convergence. Media convergence is converging two or more different forms of media. In How I Met Your Mother Marshall Eriksen, played by Jason Segel makes a website called thebestnightever.com that proceeds to scare the rest of the group on the show. This website along with tedmosbyisajerk.com are both websites that are on the world wide web. And many more shows use media convergence such as It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia has a video blog done by the character Dee which is also posted on youtube by the show. It is amazing how many things nowadays are using media convergence. The video that goes with the song on the sight is different from the one that aired on the show.

New Digital Age

I did not take this picture. The credit goes to Edward Rudge who also has a blog entry with this picture and you can find the original photo in the link above. I picked this photo because it is a reoccurring theme in my life. Most recently it was talked about in the documentary we saw in class and it made me think about how the younger generation is learning and using technology such as Iphones, Ipods, Ipads, etc. My niece and nephew use my sister and brother-in-laws Iphones to access Netflix and they can even scroll through the different movies and pick a show they like which is most likely spongebob. The interesting part about this is that they are only three years old and they already have this knowledge of this type of technology that it takes many people years to figure out fully. Another example would be cousin in New York who has an ipod touch and she is five but she already has a lot of games that she can play and understands. It is amazing that the younger generation is getting introduced to this technology at an early age and able to use this technology.  It shows that children now-a-days are going to grow up with even more technology and maybe even have it introduced into the classrooms.
